Opinion: Hearing Aid Useless for Understanding Still Small Voice

As an old man who has seen and heard a lot in my days, I recently got myself a fancy new hearing aid. The young folks at the store assured me it was top-of-the-line, with all the bells and whistles. They said it would help me hear everything clearer, from the chirping of birds to the whispers of my grandkids. But there’s one thing it hasn’t helped me with: understanding the still small voice.
You see, I’ve been trying to tune into that still small voice for years. I’ve read all the books, attended all the seminars, and even tried meditating in complete silence. But no matter how hard I try, that voice remains as elusive as ever. So, when I got my new hearing aid, I thought maybe, just maybe, it would help me finally catch what that voice was saying.
Well, let me tell you, it hasn’t. I’ve fiddled with the settings, adjusted the volume, and even tried different environments, but the still small voice remains a mystery. I can hear the clock ticking, the fridge humming, and even the neighbor’s dog barking three houses down, but that voice? Not a peep.
I went back to the store to see if they could help. The young man behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy when I explained my problem. He said the hearing aid was designed to amplify sound, not to help me understand some mystical voice. I told him that maybe they should consider adding that feature in their next model. He just smiled and nodded, probably thinking I was just another old man with strange ideas.
Oh well, I’ll keep using my hearing aid to catch the sounds of the world around me. And who knows, maybe one day, when I least expect it, that still small voice will finally come through, loud and clear.
